ATTN: PTSD Survival Guide for Families
Does someone in your life have PTSD?
PTSD affects the whole family.
The PTSD Survival Guide for Families program has been created to help families live a better life while dealing with the challenges of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
My husband has PTSD from working in Afghanistan, and as the result of a work accident that he almost did not survive.
We have over 10 years of first-hand experience navigating the ups and downs of PTSD. We have struggled socially, financially, and as a family, all because of PTSD.
I know how hard it is to work fulltime, manage a house, take care of kids, and then serve as the emergency mental health worker. My husband knows what it's like to lose himself to the pain and fear of PTSD episodes.
It's exhausting for everyone and will bring you and your family to the breaking point over, and over again.
During our long journey we have figured out some things. We have learned how to make the PTSD episodes shorter and less intense, we have learned how to interact as a family when the episodes inevitably come back.
We have also learned how to support our child and manage a financial situation that is complicated by medical and mental health care.
